hello
Hi, it's me, Leigh Ann (Annie) Hamilton, and I love what I do. I am living, breathing proof that when you love what you do, it doesn't really feel like work. My favorite part about all of this is when I get complete freedom to be as creative as I want, because if I had it my way, most likely I will use humor in my design work. I love pranks, the nice ones, not the ones at other people's expenses. I love the goofy ones that just make you giggle. Because life is hard enough as it is to not get humor involved. I often tell my husband, Paul, that is why I married him, because he can take a joke. (This is really not the only reason why, by the way.) I am a Stay-at-Home mom with a 10-year old girl, Brileigh, and a 4-year old boy, Deklan, and even they like a good joke. I have taught them well. (My poor husband, God bless him). And as a designer, I also like to push myself out of what I know and out of my comfort zone, to always improve. I love a good challenge and if I learn something from that challenge, that's even better. So there will always be diversity in my designs because I'm always up for a challenge.
What's in a Name?
So what's with the funny name? Well, there's a story behind that. I've always been a bit of a smart-mouth. I'd often sass or talk back to my parents (Sorry, mom). I figured it would be better to use my creativity for good and not evil, use my weakness and turn it into a strength. So now, I can use my humor, my sarcasm and use it as a really great advertisement or sales pitch. I have found that humor can be a really great way for people to remember your product. And as far as my business name goes, if you are to trust a creative professional with your advertising needs, you need someone, well, creative. How creative would I be if I had just named my business Annie's Designs, or just used my initials? I've gotten you curious and wanting more right? Just who is this weirdo? Well, read more and you'll find out!
Believe it or not, this business started as an Etsy shop that failed miserably. It was creative, but I really should have been focusing on the design part of things rather than the execution of the products. Design and a strong layout is my strength, cutting vinyl on my Silhouette and ironing them onto tea towels, not so much. But the concepts were really good. My goal in this business was to make some really funny Christian products, without it coming off as cheesy. (My favorite wall art was a quote from Job 19:17, My breath is Offensive to my Wife, which I have conveniently placed next to my husband's toothbrush... again, my poor husband). I've made really funny Bible covers, wall art, I have a lot of really great t-shirt design ideas as well. The items I sold were not limited to Christian items. But it just didn't take off. So I decided to focus more on my strengths of design. And this is the outcome. And honestly, this is better because like I said, I love what I do and I'm good at what I do. So feel free to contact me and I can almost guarantee you, I will love working on it. And because I love what I do, there will be a really great advertisement, sales pitch, slogan or branding piece that will come out of that. Combine that with my strong eye for design and color palettes, strong layout skills to catch the attention of your audience and to keep that attention, and you've got some good things coming your way to help your business succeed.
